I remember the moon landing, Yes I am that old. Got up at 3:00 this morning. It is 7:00am now, Maxine will soon be on her way riding with angels on earth. It is going to be a long day for her, exciting but long. I won't get home until 6:00ish and then will spend an hour with her and Yoshi socializing them then another hour with the smaller dogs. I will try to Fill you in when I am done, if not first thing tomorrow morning. I have to be sure to let them know each other so we all can live peacefully. Before Chows we never had to do this but since chows are different, we must accommodate their differences

Miss Maxini is just gorgeous and she looks like she is a real sweetheart...rolling over for her new Dadddy David and letting him rub her belly...I am so hooked on girlie chows since Cheyenne.

I know that Yoshi and Maxine will do great together just like my 2. Takes a little while but they will be best buds.

What a lovely uplifting story this has been. You guys have been really phenomonal with the transport...all of you are awesome! This was just meant to be when Larry and Terrina found her.

And of course Maxwell will watch over her always.

by Dogdad on Sat Feb 14, 2009 6:08 pm

Thank you everyone,
Maxine is inside , the dogs are nervously sniffing buts Maxine is taking it like a princess. Aldo wants to play in the worst way but doesn't know how. Maxine ate just a little bid, I will give her more later. She isn't Maxwell but she is wonderful. So far she has been called Princess Maxine, Maxini and ms Maxine.

david

by Larry Harris on Sat Feb 14, 2009 6:16 pm

She has one more name and you will come to love... "Maxine Behave" they are tired and can't play any more

Thank you everyone, donantions, tansportation and love from everyone on this wouderful list. I am sure as David and Maxine get to know each other we will see lots of pictures tommorow  Any bets she is on the bed tonight?

by Sharons Chows on Sat Feb 14, 2009 6:52 pm

David,
she will never be Maxwell but she will be your PRINCESS MAXINE and steal you heart in no time

When my 1st rescue chow mix, MoMo died 13 years ago I was so devastated but after 2weeks I had to get another one..so off to the pound I went and came home with "baby" JR.
I believe with all my heart that MoMo transferred part of his spirit to JR and left the other part for JR to make into his own. In fact the day I brought JR home he went straight to the back yard and sat by Mo's grave. MoMo still lives in my heart right next to JR and Cheyenne and there is plenty of room for them all.

And Larry, I am betting 100 % with you that she will sleep with Dad tonight. She certainly seems to be a little love and I am sure you will miss her.

by Dogdad on Sat Feb 14, 2009 7:13 pm

lol she is on the couch sleeping next to me. she has played with the boys, dogs and is just plain tuckered out. She is really a sweet sweet girl

by Dogdad on Sun Feb 15, 2009 5:05 am

Good Morning,

Ms Maxine slept very well after having a few bedtime snacks. She is a good sleeper, not a snuggler yet but slept in bed. We had a few minutes of tummy scratching and talking, I got another kiss. She was quite angry this morning as there were a few of those big dogs with sticks on their heads beyond the fence. She told them where to go.. She is getting along well the the other dogs, most of the nervousness is going away. In a few minutes she will go for walkies, ( very late for Yoshi) and meet Yoshi. I am hoping things will go well. I am not sure I can ever trust Yoshi alone with anyone but hopefully he will find Maxine as charming as the rest of us do. more later

by jonathanfsu1 on Sun Feb 15, 2009 5:09 am

Thank you so much for the up date..I am sorry I was not chimming in earlier..I started to communicate on this thread at the end...Congrats David...Sounds great..I know from experience one has to do advanced behavioral interventions prior to a possible confrontation..You are obviously seasoned (per say) enough to make this a success from the very beginning...

Cherish every moment with your Chowlings.

Oh, this so fabulous! She is looks like the sweetest little girl. Hopefully, the meet and greet with Yoshi went well. I bet she just loved walkies this morning.

by Dogdad on Sun Feb 15, 2009 8:40 am

Here are the pictures I promised. It was a long day for Miss Maxine. She acted like a little trooper. We got home around 6:00pm and was in bed by 10:00pm . everyone is still be social to her and vis a versa.

http://s193.photobucket.com/albums/z49/6dogsdad/maxinevoyage/

click on the link to see the pictures, I think there are about 22.

She is so small, smaller than Mikimoto. I was really surprised, they said small but I didn't imagine this small. She is so skinny I can feel her ribs, She looks very healthy, no doubt to Terrina and Larrys loving care. I am going to put her on the Bama diet for a while to fatten her up like I did for the Yoshi-monster.

David

by chris on Sun Feb 15, 2009 9:03 am

Awww, looks like she is fitting in nicely. I looked at the pictures and my favorites are 15, 17 and 21. You can just see the beauty and sweetness in her eyes in those. How do the boys like her and vice versa?

by CoraP. on Sun Feb 15, 2009 9:07 am

Thanks for the pictures, David. Maxine is such a pretty color! It looks like she's getting used to things and is fitting right in. She certainly looks content cuddled up with you! I hope all goes well with Yoshi and Maxine!

CoraP.

by Dogdad on Sun Feb 15, 2009 9:26 am

She is fitting in well, she is really active and the little dogs are getting used to it. She has been up and down stairs all day playing with toys, getting tummy rubs and going outside, everyone has been playing with her alot the boys and especially my partner Jeff are in love with her. she is finally taking a break and sleeping by my feet.

David

by WildThings on Sun Feb 15, 2009 9:28 am

Aww, Maxine is just adorable. If she had some white fur around her nose and a crimpled ear she could be Fiona's twin (aside from the skinny thing ).

How did her and Yoshi's meet and greet go?

Amanda

by Dogdad on Sun Feb 15, 2009 11:25 am

Maxine just had her first zoomie since being home. Aldo and Mikimoto don't understand zoomies so I had to put them inside but then she had a good 5 minute, run like a crazy woman zoomie . I think she is beggining to show her true personality, playing all the time,

David

by Dogdad on Mon Feb 16, 2009 7:36 am

Walkies went well, Yoshi ignres her most of the time, I just let her outside with his haw haw ness, She runs circles around him goes in for play and then runs away, he is too slow for her. She certainly wants all the attention, it may be hard oh her tomorrow when i go to work

David

by fillyok on Mon Feb 16, 2009 8:00 am

That's exactly how Ping and Bear were when I first brought her home. He ignored her for the most part. The first time I saw them "play" together I thought they would kill each other. It was all fangs and growls. I ended up paying to replace the carpet in that apartment when I moved out. Why would they put that loopy berber carpet in apartments anyway????
Ping is very high strung to this day, but she has three victims to choose from now.

David,
she will never be Maxwell but she will be your PRINCESS MAXINE and steal you heart in no time

I am not sure I can ever trust Yoshi alone with anyone but hopefully he will find Maxine as charming as the rest of us do. more later

Here are the pictures I promised. It was a long day for Miss Maxine. She acted like a little trooper. We got home around 6:00pm and was in bed by 10:00pm . everyone is still be social to her and vis a versa.

click on the link to see the pictures, I think there are about 22.

Aww, Maxine is just adorable. If she had some white fur around her nose and a crimpled ear she could be Fiona's twin (aside from the skinny thing ).

How did her and Yoshi's meet and greet go?

Maxine just had her first zoomie since being home. Aldo and Mikimoto don't understand zoomies so I had to put them inside but then she had a good 5 minute, run like a crazy woman zoomie . I think she is beggining to show her true personality, playing all the time,

Awwwww she is sleepin' with you already She sounds alot like Kearra....LIL' Chow, BIG personality!!!! I'm predicting you will be amused daily How did walkies go with Yoshi this morning???

by Dogdad on Mon Feb 16, 2009 7:36 am

Walkies went well, Yoshi ignres her most of the time, I just let her outside with his haw haw ness, She runs circles around him goes in for play and then runs away, he is too slow for her. She certainly wants all the attention, it may be hard oh her tomorrow when i go to work

David what a wonderful story, you will make her a wonderful dad, there are so many words I want to say,but just can't I am just so thrilled for you.
I do want to say that if I am allowed I would like to copy this story and her pictures and add them to my chow chow web site, this is just a wonderful story, I keep repeating myself, must be getting old.
